Japan's food manufacturing sector is one of the largest in Asia, producing everything from instant ramen and frozen foods to beverages and confectionery. The SSW field covers general food and beverage manufacturing, processing, and food hygiene safety (excluding liquor production).

Major employers include companies like Nissin, Ajinomoto, Meiji, and Suntory. Factories are located nationwide, with concentrations in the Kanto and Kansai regions.

Core Job Responsibilities

Food Processing

Operating food processing machinery for cutting, mixing, cooking, fermenting, and packaging food and beverage products.

Quality Control

Conducting taste tests, visual inspections, temperature monitoring, and microbial safety checks on production lines.

Hygiene Management

Maintaining HACCP-compliant sanitation standards, cleaning production equipment, and monitoring facility hygiene.

Packaging & Shipping

Labeling, sealing, boxing, and staging finished food products for distribution to retailers and wholesalers.
