The JLPT N4 level is the essential intermediate step in your Japanese language education, building directly upon the JLPT N5 foundation. This course is specifically designed for students who have successfully completed JLPT N5 and are now ready to improve their Japanese to a communicative level for wider use in daily life, master sentence structures for detailed conversations, and prepare rigorously to pass the official JLPT N4 examination.

What You Will Master at the JLPT N4 Level

The N4 course moves beyond basic phrases and focuses on giving you the confidence to navigate everyday situations in Japan with greater fluency and comprehension.

Skill Area 1

Kanji Mastery

Learn a total of 320 essential Kanji characters. Read simple paragraphs, workplace notes, and announcements encountered in daily Japanese life.

Skill Area 2

Vocabulary Expansion

Acquire approximately 1,500 cumulative words covering daily life, travel, school, work, and social interactions.

Skill Area 3

Grammar & Sentence Structures

Based on Minna no Nihongo II. Shift to complex structures to express reasons, thoughts, possibilities, conditionals, and polite conversations.

Skill Area 4

Real-World Fluency

Read simple essays, follow slower everyday conversations, and engage in practical, communicative language use with confidence.

Rigorous Exam Preparation & Testing

Our JLPT N4 course at the Japan Study Center (JSC) is structured for success, ensuring you are fully prepared to advance to the next level (JLPT N3) or succeed in your visa goals.

Continuous Assessment: You will take more than 10 Periodic Tests designed to track your progress and reinforce learning across all modules (Kanji, Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading).
Final Mock Test: The course culminates in an intensive JLPT N4 Level Mock Test Preparation, replicating the official exam structure and timing to guarantee your readiness.

Visa Program Prerequisites

Passing the JLPT N4 or an equivalent exam (like JFT Basic) is the official language requirement for several visa categories, particularly the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) and Technical Intern Training Program (TITP).

JSC provides full document translation, registration liaison, and career counseling upon completion of your N4 course.
