Japan's Rich Marine Heritage
Surrounded by ocean on all sides, Japan has one of the largest fishing industries in the world. The SSW fishery and aquaculture field covers both capture fisheries (fishing gear repair, capturing marine animals, processing) and aquaculture (breed/material management, harvesting).
Key regions include Hokkaido (salmon, crab), Shizuoka (tuna), and Hiroshima (oyster farms). Workers may be dispatched seasonally similar to the agriculture sector.
